
Before crossing the border to the US, check out the action
just a few miles to the southeast of Sprague. At Buffalo
Point International Resort, on Lake of the Woods, you
can enjoy great fishing, swimming or a round of golf at the
newly opened 18-hole Lake
of the Sandhills Golf Course. A variety of accommodations
are available to meet all interests. Be sure to checkout the
Native Cultural Centre, full service marina and restaurant,
all operated by Buffalo Point First Nation.
Crossing the border into the US, head south on Hwy 313 and
into Warroad, Minnesota,
also known as "Hockey-Town USA". The home of the
Warroad Lakers amateur hockey team, there's lots to do here.
A tour of the Christian Brothers Hockey Stick Factory is both
enjoyable and educational. The Gardens Arena is full of hockey
memorabilia. For those interested in the industrial side of
things, Marvin Windows offers a nice tour of their plant just
across the highway.
Try the fantastic fishing on Lake of the Woods or a round
of golf at Warroad Estates Golf Course. An on-site marina
offers docking for boats and an RV court is nearby.
Wilderness enthusiasts will enjoy visiting Hayes
Lake State Park located 31 miles southwest of Warroad
on the edge of Beltrami Island State Forest.
The magnificent stands of red and white pine bordering the
lake, soaring bald eagles and good camp grounds can't be beat.
If gaming or theatre is your choice, try your luck at the
Seven Clans Casino or take in a play at the
Warroad Summer Theatre. Warroad is rich in Native American
history. Explore the 2.5 mile Ka-Beck-A-Nung Trail for a historic
walk around town.
